My acne problems aren’t that serious.

This product worked very well for a good month…and then it stopped being effective. For some reason, even though the wash is a scrub it wasn’t exfoliating properly…and it dried me out. My esthetician said that Proactiv usually works in the beginning for most of her clients…

I remember her telling me once that I didn’t need a salicylic or Jessner peel. I figure, well–maybe the Proactiv was too strong for me…because it stripped my face of moisture.

But…the mask is very good. It’s creamy and cooling. I still go back and forth between the Proactiv mask and the DDF sulfur mask (which is VERY effective). These days I use the Mint Julep Queen Helene scrub, a face wash from the spa I frequent, witch hazel as an astringent (it’s non-drying on my face) and pure/unrefined shea butter as a moisturizer.

I started using proactiv when I was around 22. I had never had acne problems as a teen, but all of a sudden around 21, I would get these large painful cystic blemishes maybe once or twice a month on my chin. They tore down my self esteem whenever I had one. I would be afraid to leave the house and try and schedule my life around the stupid things. These were not little baby white heads, They would take a week or more to come to a head and hurt like you would not believe during that process. Then, they’d take forever to heal. I’m fair with freckles, so a honkin’ red mountain the size of a nickel or dime was not good.

I ordered proactiv and have never gone back. Though there has been a time when I tried using only the face wash/scrubby stuff, it doesn’t work by itself and I started to break out again. The key really is using the three steps together. Once you get used to it, it’s not so tedious to have to go through all three steps. I’m 28 now. I rarely breakout and they’re SO much smaller now and really can be attributed to ‘that time’ of the month. Everyone gets a blemish now and then, but no one should have to live with them every day. We’re a household of proactiv users, as my boyfriend uses it daily as well.

For the price I wouldn’t hesitate to go and try it for a couple months(thru the proactiv website). I know it’s NOT super cheap, but now knowing how it works, I would pay double in a heart beat. And honestly, it takes me probably about 6 months to go thru one kit, so it the end it’s not bad at all. Also, some simple tips: Make sure your pillowcase is clean, never go to sleep with makeup on, don’t touch your face unnecessarily and don’t lean your face on a phone/cell phone. Those few things actually helped a lot as well!

I’ve used this mask for years. When I was younger (teens and early twenties) I had oily acne prone skin and used the entire Proactiv system. Now that I’m 30 and my skin has dried out, I use this mask once, or twice a week to clear my pores and to calm inflamed pimples. It works best after a shower when skin is soft and the “gunk,” in your Tzone is soft, too. I apply, hang out for twenty or thity minutes and rinse with warm water, or exfoliate with a warm wash cloth. Results are not permanent, but for a few days at least, bye bye blackheads. Remember, for BEST results, use this mask after your shower, or steam your face carefully over a pot of hot water with a towel (to catch the steam) and apply when skin is warm and soft. =o)

I was once a Proactiv user and eventhough my skin is oily it became very dry. I quit using Proactiv and then realized I needed to use a spot treatment. I tried everything but it either left me looking blotchy or it overdried my skin. I ordered just this refining mask and use everytime I feel something coming on. It works over night! I spot treat lightly at night and in the morning I do the same under my makeup. I LOVE IT!! I hope it’s a product I’ll be able to obtain from here on out. =}

Proactiv is great, but this configuration will leave you very disappointed. The sizes are very small for the price (almost ) and you might as well buy the “Mega” Supersized bottles instead for an additional . There is no way that the sizes in this configuration would last for 60 days of use. This ad is misleading. Search for another configuration.

Conclusion: Proactiv is Recommended! (but buy another configuration).

i just received my package today and I was disappointed to say the least. I paid for a 60 day supply (which is what size the product is said to be) and i received a 30 day supply. Also, the toner (which is always the thing that runs out first) was leaking in the package, and was already a quarter empty. I recommend buying this product from QVC or another reliable seller on amazon because if you buy it here, you will most likely be ripped off and pay twice what you would normally pay for the same product.

I have used every product out there. This one really keeps away about 90% of the acne I would otherwise get. I can’t say it makes my face perfect, but it makes it much much better than it would be with any other product. Definitely follow with the lotion (or try the benzoyl peroxide treatment at [...], which works fantastically).

Proaciv is a highly effective acne treatment brand but, here’s the catch – you have to keep at it. Firstly, it takes a few weeks before you see significant results. This is the case for any acne treatment product really – you just HAVE to be consistent and give it time. So, folks looking for a quick solution to their problem (i.e. – clearing up your skin in time for prom or a wedding, for example) will be disappointed.

Secondly, it is not a magic potion capable of “curing” acne. Once you stop using the product, your acne will return unless you take active steps to maintain the health of your skin. It is often believed that merely using a product can be the only change made to help your skin. Clear skin is about more than just using the right brands…. having clear skin is about understanding skin.

Overall, I’d say use this product if you can afford to consistently buy it. If you can’t, understand the ways to help keep your skin healthy since, if you don’t take those steps, it is HIGHLY likely be disappointed once you stop using Proactiv.

This is really a GREAT price for the giant sized proactiv. I’ve seen it on QVC for about 5 dollars less (the giant sized) so you may want to check there as well.

Don’t bother with the smaller sizes unless you need to buy them for air-travel; these are too big and might be thrown out if you try to take them on a carry-on– you don’t want that!

Just invest in these larger sizes and I think you’ll be very happy. The cleanser and the repairing lotion always goes first for me, I don’t use the toner as much. But It’s still cheaper for me to buy the kit then bother with the smaller individual sizes.

Proactiv works for me. It doesn’t work overnight, but it really works. And it doesn’t dry out my dry/sensitive skin. The repairing lotion will usually clear a small breakout (like on my chin from holding the phone) in about two days.

If I get a breakout on my forehead (I get some breakouts before my cycle), I always use the cleanser and the repairing lotion at night on my T-zone. I feel like this product really does what it says. I don’t have really bad acne, but it’s still a bother to have breakouts when you’re older like me.

My teenage daughter uses it too and it works well for her.

Just to clear things up, this is the REAL DEAL, it is not a fake product as per one of the other reviews. You can go on [...] right now and see this wash being sold there for more money than here (2 8 oz. bottles) – I used to buy it from them, but will happily buy it here from Amazon now that I know they sell it too. This is indeed made with salicylic acid, NOT benzoyl peroxide like their other facial cleansers by ProActive. They are TWO DIFFERENT products, this is NOT a fake product or a knock off like the other review said. I have been using this for years, and it is the ONLY product that keeps my face clean and blemish free. No other product does that for me, including the entire ProActive line that is different than this wash. I have been through 3 different Isotretinoin treatments for severe acne, numerous antibiotics, numerous facial cremes and washes given to me by my dermatologist, and nothing has worked except for the Isotretinoin and this wonderful wonderful wash by ProActive (by the way, salicylic acid in the 2% strength is COMMONLY used by dermatologists to help clear acne up – which this product thankfully has! You don’t even have to go see a dermatologist like I originally did to get a product with that particular strength of salicylic acid). I’m 30 years old too, have had acne since I was 13. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this wonderful product to everyone who struggles with acne!

I’ve been using Proactiv for about 10 years. I prefer the deep cleansing wash for my face (… and my shoulders) to the cleansing solution. I’ve used the cleansing wash for about 9 months, now, and follow it with the repairing lotion on my face. I guess because I’m a bit older now, the extra exfoliation from the deep cleansing wash really helps my facial skin to appear brighter and more youthful. Strangers literally stop me on the street to tell me how beautiful my skin is and to ask what I use. When I tell them that I have ACTIVE acne, they are dumbfounded. With consistent treatment over the years, I no longer have breakouts, nor the dark marks breakouts leave in their aftermath!

Proactiv is the only product that has ever cleared my skin, and I think the lotion is the most important component of the “system”. (I only use the cleanser and lotion.) It’s gentle enough to use all over your face on a daily basis without being overly drying. It is bleaching, however, so you may find you have to use all white towels and pillowcases.

Proactiv helps reduce the spots on my face. I use it twice a day after cleansing, toning my face. Then I finish off with a night cream or day cream accordingly. I think some people find it drying but it certainly works for me and can not do without it. It was given to me as a gift from a friend. I shopped around looking for it after I have used up the tube. I order what I need and as I need it from Amazon and it works out cheaper than buying direct from Proactiv.

I have been using proactiv for 10 years. Nowadays I use the cleanser twice a day and follow with the treatment from [...](also contains benzoyl peroxide, like the proactiv lotion). My sister also uses proactiv, and we decided together that the toner really doesn’t make much of a difference. The cleanser works great, but I haven’t used the toner in years, and I can’t imagine that it really matters. So I agree with those who say you can use the system but eliminate the toner step. (I have been to salons that say that toners aren’t necessary at all, the one cosmetologist told me that toners are useful for minimizing pores.)

I have used Proactiv kits for several years — standard kit of wash, toner, lotion and oil free moisture. No matter how many times I try, I can add or remove this component of the system and it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference for me. If you are a regular user of Procativ with good results, you might try eliminating this step to save some money and see if it works for you– it works for me, less cost, and one less step.

I’ve tried the Proactiv products before and have found them to work, but not to be as great as the informacials make it appear. I ordered this product for the first time recently and am amazed at how great it works. The day I received the product, I felt a deep and under the skin zip growing on my cheek. I applied this product three times and the zip rapidly dried up and was almost gone within 24 hours. It dries up acne better than any other product I’ve tried, even prescription strength. Great for spot treating those deep and troublesome pimples that are hard to get rid of. I will continue to use this product and make sure I always have it on hand.

Stick a Proactive label on a product and charge three times as much! The active ingredient in this product is Benzoyl peroxide and many other products including “Pernex AC” and “Panoxyl” all contain Benzoyl peroxide and are just as effective at 1/3rd the price. I found this out only after receiving the product and reading the label, I then carried it to a pharmacist who gave me the bad news that I had wasted my money.
